3 easy ways to reduce domestic food waste

3 easy ways to reduce domestic food waste

  1. Monitor what you are regularly throwing away. If you get through only half a loaf of bread before you have to chuck it, split the next loaf you buy and freeze half of it.
  2. ‘Use-by’ dates are more of an indication from the manufacturer of when food reaches its peak quality. If you store food properly, most of it will still be edible after the use-by date. Apply common sense obviously, it if it looks, smells and tastes OK, it’s probably fine.

3. Check seals on all containers and food bags in the fridge are airtight and that the fridge itself is operating at the correct, most efficient temperature.

What is acne?

What is acne?

We’ve all suffered with it at some point, but what is acne?

Acne occurs when the tiny hair follicles in your skin get blocked.

Oil secreting glands just under your skin are connected to hair follicles and are supposed to lubricate the hair and your skin to stop it from drying out. However, when the glands overproduce oil this can mix with the dead skin cells on your skin’s surface and block the pore that the hair grows out of.

If this plug is near the skin’s surface it can cause a blockage – a white head. If it happens just causes a plug and no bulging, it is a blackhead.

Do you know the difference between antiperspirant and deodorants?

Do you know the difference between antiperspirant and deodorants?

Nobody likes sweating, nobody likes to smell, so spritzing our underarms is just a part of our everyday routine. But did you know that anti -perspirants and deodorants aren’t always interchangeable?

Antiperspirant: refers specifically to those products that are intended to control how much you sweat.

Antiperspirants contain aluminium which creates a temporary little plug in your armpit sweat glands, which is what keeps you from getting super sweaty.

Deodorants:

Deodorant, on the other hand provides the fragrance buffer that keeps your gym neighbour from smelling you when you’re working out. Deodorants are antibacterial, too, because that’s what actually causes that sweaty smell we all fear.

Easy ways to distress of an evening

Easy ways to distress of an evening

We’ve all been there, trying to focus on the TV when the anxiety hits. Going back over your day and chastising yourself for not doing something.

Stop. This is your time now.

  1. Leave your work at work. Write a to do list before you leave the office of tasks to finish tomorrow.
  2. Shut down your tech devices early. If you want your brain to switch off, switch off the screens too.
  3. Try aromatherapy. The power of scent is not to be sniffed at. Lavender is renowned for being a relaxing plant for a reason.

Why self care isn’t selfish

Why self care isn’t selfish

We’ve all done it, neglected our own health to care for others: forsaking you and what you need in the pursuit of being a good person.

But sometimes you have to stop and realise self care isn’t selfish.

If you don’t take care of yourself, you won’t be able to take care of those who rely on you.

You can have it all, if you priorities yourself at the top of your to do list.Don’t take your mental health for granted. If you push yourself so hard and burn out, who are you helping then?
